World Class BBQ Gives Back! Proceeds to Support Catholic Charities

   Thursday Sept 5-Sunday Sept 8 11a.m.-11p.m.

Flint, Mich. — Before they pack up their grills for the winter, World Class Bar-B-Q, located on North Saginaw Street at Pierson Road in Flint, is once again donating ALL the proceeds from the weekend to support the Soup Kitchens at Catholic Charities. Even the crew are donating their wages and all their tips!

World Class Bar-B-Q, started out as a family run business and has been serving in the Flint area for nearly 20 years. While the founder Dave Burton may be an award-winning grill master on the weekends, he is a semi-retired accountant. Born in 1947 in Mississippi, his family moved to Flint when he was four and he has watched Flint struggle over the years so his desire to give back is strong.  Seven years ago, Burton decided to dedicate the last weekend of the BBQ season to raise money for charity.  When asked why he chose Catholic Charities, Burton said, “the Holy Spirit guided me, we are located on the north end of Flint and all summer we see folks headed to the North End Soup Kitchen, so we know how important the work Catholic

Charities does there is.”

“Dave Burton and World Class Bar-B-Q have done an amazing job of stepping in to help raise money for our meal programs,” said Vicky Schultz, President and CEO of Catholic Charities, “We are so grateful to have supporters like Dave committed to giving back to the community. In the 8 years that World Class Bar-B-Q has been doing this, they have raised almost $120,000.  Without the generosity of our friends and neighbors, we wouldn’t be able to continue to serve those who come to us for help.”

The full menu of tender brisket, chicken smothered in a special blend ‘World Class Bar-B-Q’ sauce, turkey legs, polish sausage, smoked ribs rubbed with spices and premium herbs will be available for take-out during this event. Most menu items range from $6 for polish sausage, to $22 for a full slab of amazing BBQ ribs.  The menu variety makes it convenient to stop by to pick up a quick lunch, or dinner for the family.

Individuals or businesses who would like to donate supplies or make monetary contributions to help the cause, can call Dave Burton at 810- 394-0314.
