School Board President To Speak At Antioch For Boys II Men’s Day

On Sunday April 26th, 2015 the Youth and Young Adult Ministry will observe our Annual “Boys II Men’s Day” service. This day was created under our pastor, the Rev. Dr. Lewis Randolph to highlight the need for positive male interactions and to encourage the youth and young men in our community in the concept of manhood and displaying positive male images to the youth of the city of Flint. In the past, hundreds of youth and young adult men have participated in this program during the 10:45am service with people such as Karl Douglas (attorney to O.J. Simpson) and various other civic and religious leaders speaking. The theme for this day “Transitioning From Boys II Men” with the thematic scripture coming from I Corinthians 13:11.

This year the Youth and Young Adult Ministry is pleased to announce that our morning speaker will be Mr. Isaiah Oliver, president of the Flint Board of Education. Mr. Isaiah Oliver is a life-long Flint resident graduating in 2000 from Northwestern High School and graduating from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Currently, Mr. Oliver is the Vice President of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and serves on the Hurley Medical Center Board of Managers. Mr. Oliver is a member of North Star Ministries under the pastoral leadership of Bishop James O. Flowers. He is married to Shay Oliver and they have two beautiful daughters, Zaiah and Carrington.

Mr. Oliver was first elected to the Flint Board of Education in 2011 and has since served as the Assistant Secretary/ Treasurer, Vice President and was recently re-elected to serve as the board president. He continues to promote his hometown school district as still being the “best choice”. Whether presiding over the Flint Board of Education, leading the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, or being a dad at home with his children and supporting his wife, Mr. Oliver definitely displays the benefits of being an example for his community.

The Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family welcomes you and the young men in your life to attend this power-packed service that is sure to uplift and provide encouragement to you and your family. For more information, contact the Antioch Church Office at (810) 789-2931.
