Sanders is one of the state’s best wide receivers and has a knack for making big-time plays in big-time moments. He has delivered for his team at some of the most crucial times throughout the season.

Sanders rushed for another six touchdowns while returning two kickoffs for touchdowns. He also returned a punt for another score. In a 37-0 victory over Perry, Sanders scored five touchdowns to lead his team to victory. It’s safe to say Sanders is a touchdown machine.

DeShawn Gibson, Hamady Hawks Running Back

Gibson was among the most dynamic offensive players in the state. After transferring from Carmen-Ainsworth for his senior year, he led the Hawks to an undefeated regular season record, while rushing for 1,233 yards and scoring 22 touchdowns.

In a playoff game against Ecorse, he made a circus catch for a 79-yard touchdown and added an 80-yard rushing touchdown. Gibson had 216 receiving yards in the district finals against Millington after returning a kickoff 67 yards for another score in the opening round vs. Byron.

It’s easy to say Gibson is a running back that any team can rely on to carry the load. He’s a game breaker and can score from anywhere on the field at any time. Gibson is the kind of running back that can not only run the ball but can be dangerous as a receiver out of the backfield.

Ali Brewster, Hamady Hawks Defensive Back

Brewster is unquestionably the leading defensive back in the conference. He routinely covered the opposition’s top receiver. Brewster finished with 41 tackles, 10 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions; two of which he returned for touchdowns.

Brewster is also a top return man, returning six kickoffs and punts for touchdowns. He is a Division 1 talent and has the speed and agility to electrify the crowd when the ball is in his hands.

Brewster is also a basketball standout that can guard anybody on the court as well as on the football field. He excels on the field, and more importantly in the classroom.

A hearty congratulations is in order for these young athletes who have excelled on and off the field.
