Grant Of $4,000.00 Makes Summer Day Camps For Area Children A Reality!

The Stella & Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust administered by First Merit Private Bank, are helping area children attend The Salvation Army’s Summer Day Camps and Picnics in the Park programs.  This generous grant of $4,000.00 will help provide area children from June through August with a wonderful summer experience.  The full impact of this generosity will last a lifetime in the hearts of many!

Our “Picnics in the Park” provides a nutritious noon meal for children at Memorial Park in downtown Flint along with fun activities and literacy programs.  Our partnership with GCCARD is of great value and much appreciated.  In 2014, 47 days of summer fun and learning activities provided 35 -50 children per day a safe place to play and participate in team character building activities.

Our Summer Day Camps provide a safe, adult supervised environment for children entering 1st Grade – 6th Grade.  Programs include field trips, Mission Literacy lessons, singing, arts, crafts, and physical education opportunities. In 2014, 33 days of summer fun and learning activities provided an average of 35 children per day fun and learning.  These programs are available and provided through the Salvation Army Citadel Corps at 211 W. Kearsley Street in downtown Flint and at the Beecher Corps located at 1475 W. Coldwater Road in Flint.
