Gensee District Library, Flint Public Library and Local Business Team Up to Promote National Library Card Signup Month

Flint, Michigan – The Genesee District Library and the Flint Public Library are partnering with community businesses for National Library Card Sign-Up Month with a “Show Your Card and Save” promotion.

From September 1- 30, library patrons will receive discounts and special offers from over 60 local businesses simply by showing their library cards. Participating businesses include shops at the Flint Farmers’ Market, Vogt’s Flowers and select Tropical Smoothie locations, along with dozens of other Genesee County restaurants and service organizations.

“By now most people understand the valuable services a library card provides you,” said David Conklin, Director of Genesee District Library.  “We are happy that more than 60 local business outlets have partnered with us to provide some bonus value during September.”

Library cards already provide access to thousands of books and DVDs, as well as eBooks, eMusic, and eMagazines. Now this same library card will give the community special savings at local businesses.

“We love our business partners, and we love our patrons,” said Jackie Hatcher, community relations assistant.  “So, it’s a win-win!”

People can pick up a list of these businesses in any one of Genesee District Library’s 19 branches, or at the Flint Public Library.
