The community is invited to join the Foss Avenue Baptist Church family as they celebrate their 62nd anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker for the morning will be Pastor Blake Strozier of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Saginaw, MI. The celebratory theme is “Generosity: The Propeller of our Vision and Mission.” The scripture reference is Nehemiah 2:20.
“We’re excited for our church family. We’re excited for the community,” said Pastor Reginald Flynn. With our school, Eagle’s Nest Academy and the grocery cooperative, we’re continuing to build on the legacy of our founder, Dr. Avery Aldridge, said Flynn.
In December 1956, Dr. Aldridge founded Foss Avenue Missionary Baptist Church with his wife, Mildred and two others. The church grew throughout the years to a congregation of thousands of families, several auxiliaries, an elementary and secondary school, activity center, a credit union, dairy queen and free clothing center.
The church is located at 1159 E. Foss Avenue. All former members are invited to attend and join in this wonderful time of celebration.
