“Stand Up and Be Counted”
The Flint Branch NAACP, and its Honorary Chairperson, Dr. Karen Weaver, Mayor of the City of Flint, has announced the 38th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner. It will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Holiday Inn Gateway Centre, 5353 Gateway Centre Drive, Flint, MI 48507. A V.I.P. Sponsorship Reception will begin at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and awards at 6 p.m. The theme of this year’s dinner is: “Stand Up and Be Counted“.
The keynote speaker is Michigan’s newly elected Lieutenant Governor, the Honorable Garlin Gilchrist II.
The 2019 class of awardees is impressive. The C Fred Robinson Civil Rights Award recipient is the Pan-Hellenic Council, Flint Chapter which includes the “Divine Nine” Greek Chapters in the Flint Area. The Celia M. Turner Humanitarian Award recipient is the Hurley Foundation whose purpose is to raise funds to advance the health science, education and care of the Genesee County population, regardless of their ability to pay. The Lenore Croudy Distinguished Leadership Award recipient is United States Congressman Dan Kildee, Genesee County’s voice in Washington D.C. The Vera B. Rison Unsung Hero Award recipient is Gregory Gains, founder of Mr. Gaines Neighborhood, who has worked tirelessly by teaching our youth the importance of produce production for many years.
Adult tickets are $100.00 per person and youth tickets are $40.00. Sponsorships are also available. Please support us by being a sponsor, purchasing tickets and ads for the souvenir journal.
