First Class Travel Club Celebrates 32 Years

By Sheri L. Stuart, Staff Writer

First Class Travel Club of Flint celebrated its 32nd anniversary with a luncheon and award banquet on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Brookwood Golf and Banquet Center.  Throughout the years, club members have traveled domestically as well as internationally with excursions to wide ranging destinations, including New Orleans, South Dakota, Jamaica, Greece, Aruba, Bahamas Belize, Hawaii, Hong Kong and several other ports of call.

First Class Travel Club was birthed by long-time Flint resident Sadie Williams, who studied tourism at Baker College.  She went on to work as a travel consultant at Monarch before launching the Club, which is still comprised of dedicated family members, including her husband Moses; friends and former co-workers at Flint City Hall.

“I am grateful to all members for the fun, love, commitment to travel, and for maintaining the purpose of the club for 32 years,” said Williams who was presented a proclamation from Mayor Karen Weaver’s office. “As founder, God has truly blessed the vision of this club,” said Williams.

First Class Travel Club is a nonprofit organization that has supported other groups and causes throughout the greater Flint community.  Throughout its 32 years, the Club has donated to Coats for Kids, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Whaley Home, Motherly Intercession, the Kidney Foundation and many others.
