Children’s Hearing and Vision Screenings

Hearing and vision screenings are offered to Genesee County students throughout the year by trained Health Department technicians. These screenings are offered at no cost to pre-school children, ages three and up, at daycares/preschools throughout Genesee County. During the school year, students are provided vision screenings in grades 1, 3, and 5 at each school. Students may also be screened during the seventh grade and during the ninth grade in preparation for driver’s education. Vision screenings for 7th and 9th grade students may be offered in the school and can also be completed at one of the Health Department’s clinics held at the Health Department’s Burton Branch location. Hearing screenings are provided in grades kindergarten, 2 and 4 at each school. Students may be referred for a hearing or vision screening at other times by teachers or parents while the technician is in the school or students may come to one of the monthly screenings at the Health Department.

Screenings for all children, ages 3 through 17, are offered once a month at a clinic at the Genesee County Health Department’s Burton Branch location at G-3373 South Saginaw Street, Burton. Although it is a walk-in clinic, parents are encouraged to call 810-257-3193 for information and appointments.

Upcoming Hearing and Vision Screening Clinic dates are:

December 7, 2018

February 15, 2019

March 15, 2019
