 A Platinum Jubilee, Royal Gala                         

Flint, MI- To celebrate 70 years of dedication to the children and families of the Genesee County community, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint is announcing a Platinum Jubilee – Royal Gala. The black tie event taking place on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., will be held and hosted by Art Van Furniture Store on Miller Road in Flint. The anniversary celebration will honor the volunteers that have helped shape this institution throughout the past 70 years and highlight the future direction of Big Brother Big Sisters as they provide life- changing relationships through youth mentoring programs.

A reflective program will provide a journey through the history of the Big Brothers Big Sisters, while attendees will be treated to a Royal atmosphere of live music, dancing, delectable eats, entertainment and a celebrated speaker. The Royal theme will be carried on throughout the event with a red carpet and a photo shoot greeting guests as they enter.  A beautifully staged Art Van showroom will make way for guests to dance the night away to live music provided by Brian Alexander Band and be part of a very special performance. Chris Broussard, ESPN Sports Analyst, will be our celebrity guest.

Joe Shovel’s Lifetime Achievement: Clifton Turner

Joe Ryder Leadership Award:            Robert E. Bois

Admission for the event is $70 per person which can be purchased by making a donation on line through the Big Brothers Big Sisters website www.bbbsflint.org or by calling the office at (810) 235-0617. 

Big Brothers Big Sisters has served the Genesee County community since 1944 and provided a no-cost peer mentoring program to thousands of youth and families facing adversity. With a focus on academic excellence, the agency has been able to help shape the lives of the youth in the Genesee County community. Big Brothers Big Sisters has, through the Big and Little mentoring programs, uplifted the community and provided the youth an opportunity to boost self-esteem and confidence while building mentor relationships and friendships that can last a lifetime.
